Penhold council has awarded a tender bid to Border Paving in the amount of $580,255 for improvements in the Waskasoo Avenue area.

Rick Binnendyk, the town's chief administrative officer, told council on March 14 the contract involves remaining work from 2015, as well as additional requirements for 2016.

The work includes a walking path from Lucina Street to Robinson Avenue, landscaping south from Lucina Street, decorative streetlights, curb/gutter and storm connections north from Lucina Street to the Highway 42 intersection.

From the north end at Highway 42 going south, final asphalt levelling will be placed along the south part of Robinson Avenue.

The total estimated cost for the completion of this project would be $1,062,786.

Council asked administration to look into enhanced street lighting at the north end of Lucina Street to the intersection at Highway 42.
