The Innisfail Province is looking to Innisfail and area organizations to help inform readers free of charge of community events -- from sporting to cultural.
“One feature of our new website is the ability for hockey teams, basketball teams, community groups and volunteer organizations to post upcoming events,” said Johnnie Bachusky, Innisfail Province editor. “We, as a paper, will still approve the submissions but every organization will be able to keep our readers aware of community events.”
The listings include date, time, place, participants or organization, contact information and event type, which can be displayed via the date, or as a list under the View All Events tab.
Closely related to the events tab is a sports score reporting system, which will also be accessible to teams in the newspaper's publishing area for immediate reporting. At present, the reporting mechanism is being developed and once it is live, the Province will announce the feature.
“We want to make the reporting and announcement of community events and scores as efficient and as responsive as possible,” said Bachusky. “The Innisfail Province is a community paper and we want to reflect that.”
