The West Central Wranglers have been working hard with our horses to get ready for our Regionals competition.

The Regionals take place at Red Deer's Westerner Park from June 3 to the 5. The 4-H members will showcase their project horses and compete against members from other west central clubs. It's a fun time and a great learning experience.

Some of the training for the competition we've done to prepare include riding lessons, gymkhanas and exercises at our own club Achievement Day on May 14. At Achievement Day we were judged on our riding for western pleasure, showmanship, horsemanship and trail. We were given feedback that we can use for the Regionals.

Also, some members received awards of excellence for their diaries, presented to them by Ken Grebinski from Penn West. Diaries are completed to track personal growth and skill development as you “learn to do by doing” and they are the key to offering many amazing 4-H opportunities. Annika Vetterli received bronze, Leslee Leischner earned silver and Shelby Job received gold. Great job to all of them!

Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the annual highway cleanup this year, as it was rescheduled due to the Fort McMurray wildfire. It ended up being on the same day as our Achievement Day.

We are very sorry for the loss and destruction that the wildfire caused. Our club is planning to donate money and tack to a Fort McMurray 4-H club once we know what is needed. If any of you would like to donate tack please contact me using the email shown below.
