About 45 people attended the Sundre library’s inaugural Books2Eat event, which featured nine local participating restaurants and chefs who prepared a recipe related to a book of their choice.
“Books2Eat is a global event held in libraries around the world, to bring books, people and food together,” said library manager Karen Tubb.
“We read about it and thought, ‘What a fun idea!’”
The event was very successful, with everybody who attended getting a chance to chat and indulge in a variety of fine food by the cooks, whose involvement and contribution of the food meant that more than $500 was raised for library programs, said Tubb.
Providing their culinary skills were the following: Original T’s, Piros Family Restaurant, Backwoods Bakery, Schott’s Lake Resort, Sundre IGA, Dusty Road Coffee, Greenwood Distillery, Ken from Camp Evergreen, and Tim from Pioneer Lodge, she said.
All of those who attended, including the chefs, shared plenty of positive feedback, said added.
“They enjoyed the concept and the food was delicious…we are already being asked if we are doing it again next year!”
