INNISFAIL – Classic country and old-time rock 'n’ roll will fill the hall in Red Deer when Innisfail’s Richard and Deborah Popovich take to the stage later this month.

The Innisfail duo has been performing together for more than 30 years and will be entertaining audiences once again with a series of concerts at Festival Hall on Nov. 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and a matinee performance on Nov. 18 at 1 p.m.

“We do more of what you’d see if you went to a Branson Show with music and comedy,” said Richard Popovich. “There’ll be three concerts (in Red Deer).”

The concerts will provide audience members with a multimedia experience and will include motion backgrounds, stills and videos, along with modern technology in the form of laser projection.

“We’ll be using a 25-foot video screen as part of our production,” said Richard, noting the technology (and backgrounds) will be used throughout the two-hour show.

“There’s a number of artists that are using this (technology) in large venues, but there isn’t much happening where you can go to your local community centre and see something like that,” he added.

“It’s suitable for everybody,” noted Deborah. “(For people) from nine to 99 years old.”

Over the years, they’ve built up a rapport with fans in the area and many locals are familiar with the duo through performances with their 16-piece band, on the Stettler steam train, at private parties, two television series with Shaw, and performances with a dinner theatre they presented in Central Alberta for about 10 years.

Deborah noted one thing they were looking forward to with the concerts in Red Deer.

“We’re really excited about this series of shows because we’re going to see a lot of our previous customers that came to our dinner theatre,” she said, noting the theatre has been closed for a couple of years. “It’s so rewarding for us. To have them phone us and say I’m so glad you sent us a letter. We’re so excited, we haven’t seen you for so long.”

The Popovichs want concert-goers to enjoy a night out with some great entertainment.

“We just want them to come and have fun,” Richard concluded.

Tickets are $30 and are available only prior to the concert. No tickets are available at the door. For information visit Popovich Productions Ltd. on Facebook or www.richardanddeborah.com. To purchase tickets call 403-304-6821.
