The Olds and District Kiwanis Music Festival ended last Tuesday with a final grand concert at the TransCanada Theatre.
Twenty-one contestants were recommended for provincials
“It's about the same as last year. I think last year, we had 22,” said Wendy Durieux, Olds and District Kiwanis Music Festival coordinator.
The festival had more than 2,000 contestants from 23 communities around southern central Alberta.
“The festival was really good. We had lots of great performers,” said Dave Casselman, Olds and District Kiwanis Music Festival president.
“We really enjoyed ourselves. The kids really enjoyed themselves too.”
This year, the festival had 688 entries, which is 51 less than last year.
“We were down a little bit,” said Casselman.
“It's not something that we really noticed, as far as the numbers go.”
