STRONG WOMEN — On June 4 in the Evergreen Centre, as part of Seniors Week, former Olds resident Mary Hays (who now lives in Calgary) and her fellow actors and storytellers performed The Valient Five, highlighting the accomplishments of five Alberta women who petitioned the Canadian government to have women declared persons, so they could hold office in all areas of Canadian government including the Senate. These women include the first female MLA, agistrate and cabinet minister.
