A two-time Juno Award-winning band decorated with multi-platinum albums will be rocking in Olds this summer. On July 28, Prism will be playing this year's Rock 104 Birthday Bash at the Olds Regional Exhibition's grandstand.Opening will be the Young Fellas, winner of the Rock 104 Star Search competition.Tickets for the show can be purchased at Stevens Jewellers in uptowne Olds for $30.The band, originally from Vancouver, is known for hits such as Spaceship Superstar, Take me to the Kaptin, Armageddon, and Don't Let Him Know.Canadian songwriters including Jim Vallance and Bryan Adams have contributed to the group's list of songs. The four-piece ensemble has dates booked this year in Western Canada and some of the stops along the way include cities such as Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.Lead singer and guitarist Al Harlow said Olds' convenient location along Highway 2 was one reason why the band will stop by.“We've been aware of Olds, travelling around the country all these years playing rock festivals and events like that,” Harlow said. “It's going to be good seeing everybody there.”When the band arrives, Harlow said fans can expect them to play all the crowd-pleasers during their set list.“We certainly play all the greatest hits,” he said. “We call it the Spaceship Superstar-Armageddon Sandwich. We start with one and finish with the other one. We blow up the world at the end with Armageddon.”But don't expect a predictable show.“A few surprises in between,” he added. “Just throw in a couple of album cuts people would know and radio songs.”This will be Prism's first performance in Olds and Harlow said they're looking forward to the experience.“We're from the West Coast. We're not Prairie guys but I just really enjoy coming out … where the air is fresh and clean,” he said. “I'm told that the show is selling well already so we're just looking forward to seeing everybody there.”[email protected]
