Local 4-H members did very well at a recent provincial competition.
The Calgary 4-H Regionals event had three public speaking and three presentation competitions, all held at the Strathmore Civic Centre.
The regionals are the fourth level of competition for participating 4-H members - the top for the junior and the intermediate members and the next step towards provincials for senior members.
Each of the five districts in the Calgary 4-H region sent its top two competitors in each age category and competitions level.
In all, 51 members took part in the Strathmore event.
Davis Gottenbos from the West Carstairs 4-H club took first place in the junior public speaking competition. Declan Jones from the Bergen 4-H club took third place.
Taylor Kjargaard and Trinity Praill from the Olds 4-H Multiclub finished second, and Clay Grattidge from Cremona 4-H club finished third in the junior presentation competition.
First place in the senior presentation competition went to the team of Brooke Macklin and Morgan Macklin from the Sundre 4-H Multiclub. Second place went to Reid Caukill from Eagle Beef and Multi 4-H club.
The provincials will be held April 8.
