  • The Canada Richest Youth Committee received $750.
  • The Cremona Community Engagement Site received $932.

  • The Sundre 4-H Multi Club received $250.

Each group or organization sent a funding request to the ASB.

The Bergen Institute said the funds will be used for the Feast of Bergen, the farmers market, summer concerts, Bergen trails, Bergen News, and website.

“The Bergen Institute continues its mandate of creating and supporting projects which enhance the Bergen community,” officials said.

The Canada’s Richest Youth Committee said it “hosts an annual youth event to promote youth in agriculture. We provide a teaching component, while encouraging competitors to excel in showmanship and conformation.”

Cremona Community Engagement Site said funding will be used for the April 4 Farming Smarter-Becoming Strong Agri-Food Leaders workshop, “an interactive and informative day of networking and insight into the latest issues affecting our local agri-business producers.”

The Didsbury Agricultural Society said the funds will be used for sound equipment at the rodeo grounds.

The Mountain View 4-H District Heifer Committee said the money will be used to help fund the 2018 Heifer show.

“Your sponsorship will assist use with awarding the 4-H members who have dedicated countless hours toward their 4-H projects,” said officials. “Because of your sponsorship, you will receive recognition in our show program as well as signage during the show.”

The Olds Regional Exhibition funds will be used for rural youth livestock development and the Mountain View Special Riding program.

The Sundre 4-H Multi Club funds will be used to help support arena rental, judges' gifts and club judging awards.

The Carstairs and District 4-H show and sale money will be used for floor shavings.

Meanwhile, the board was given an update on the Farm Safety Centre student awareness program.

The update also came during the board’s recent regularly scheduled meeting.

Eleven classes were held at Carstairs Elementary, eight at Cremona School, nine at Hugh Sutherland, seven at Olds Koinonia Christian School, four at Olds Mountain View Christian, four at Reed Ranch School, and 15 at River Valley School in Sundre.
