AltaLink is advising residents of central and southern Alberta that it will be using a helicopter to visually inspect its transmission lines and surrounding vegetation for several days starting next week.
“In advance, AltaLink apologizes for any disturbance or inconvenience to residents in the vicinity of the power lines that will be patrolled. When conducting aerial surveys, AltaLink is mindful to minimize disruption to residences, area users, livestock and wildlife. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” a company press release issued Thursday stated.
The aerial patrols will start May 13 and are expected to be complete by May 17, weather permitting.
The company says the annual patrol helps it to maintain the reliability of the grid through proactive maintenance.

• Lacombe/Lacombe County
• Rocky Mountain House
• Mountain View County
• Sundre
• Crossfield
• Foothills County
• Okotoks
• High River
• Diamond Valley
• Cochrane
• Canmore
• Banff
• Lake Louise
• Kananaskis
