Mountain View County has set March 12 to June 5 as the fixed annual dates for road bans. The dates, based on five-year averages, are intended “administratively to enhance the planning” for seasonal construction and maintenance schedules, Michael MacLean, director of operational services, said at Wednesday's council meeting.“Frost probes will still be used because the dates can be changed by exception,” MacLean told council.“If there is something exceptional like an early thaw, we can take the bans off earlier.”“I encourage you to stick to set dates as much as possible,” Reeve Bruce Beattie advised administration.Council's decision ratified a recommendation last month from its policies and priorities committee.
