DIDSBURY - This year's Didsbury Art, Travel & Trade Expo looks to be bigger and better than ever, say officials.

Scheduled for April 7 and 8 at the Didsbury Memorial Complex, the business extravaganza features exhibitors with everything a person could want for their house, home, art and travel needs.

The show has been around for 33 years and is once again being organized by the Didsbury & District Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber president Brian Chita said the trade show started in 1985 with a handful of businesses in Didsbury wanting to showcase their town, along with some exhibits from nearby locations.

"The trade expo has continued to grow through the following years," said Chita. "Each year the chamber looks forward to the Art, Travel and Trade Expo, as on the average 40 per cent of vendors rebook before leaving the expo, assuring their location for the next year. Vendors have voiced that their exposure to the public during the two days was a great way to reach other potential customers or just to promote awareness of their business."

So far there are 102 vendors signed up for the trade show with room for only a couple more, said Chita.

"We are now at 95 per cent sold," he said. "With our generous sponsors we will have Country Star Search on Saturday and the fiddlers on Sunday at the Tanas Talent stage. For the young at heart, there is splash 'n' play at the aquatic centre, a kids' zone with a bouncy house, face-painting and games. This year we have added four new food vendors in the food court."

Chita said they have created some smaller booths, which allows for small home-based businesses, or businesses just starting out, to have a space for a lower cost.

"The trade expo has provided many businesses over the years exposure of their business, products or services to the public, not only in Didsbury, but visitors from surrounding communities," he said. "It is important to get the message out there about your business, and meet some people who come to your booth, that may not come to your store or business otherwise."
