DIDSBURY - The Didsbury and District Chamber of Commerce honoured local businesses on Saturday at its annual awards presentation and gala at the Elks Hall.
This is the 16th year that the chamber has honoured the great service and dedication that local businesses offer.
Laurie Klassen, manager of the Didsbury ATB branch and vice-president of the Didsbury chamber, said that it was a great night for local businesses.
"It was well attended and next year's event will be even bigger and better," said Klassen. "This year we had over 80 nominations from our community, which is a record, and we hope to do even more next year. Well done, Didsbury!"
Diana Steer, executive director of the Didsbury chamber, agreed that the gala went very well.
"It went great," said Steer. "We had over 100 guests. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Everyone was excited to be there. There were so many nominees. The award winners were all very surprised and excited."
There were more than 80 ballots submitted this year from residents with over 30 separate businesses nominated for eight different awards, said Steer.
"We had such a great quality of businesses," she said. "We have so many great businesses in Didsbury. It was wonderful. It was the most nominations at one time. It was a great evening."

- Business Ethics Award: Gil's Truck and Auto
- Exceptional Customer Service: The Germaine Spa
- People's Choice Award: Lindsay's Shear Heaven
- Youth Employee of the Year: Jadon Schmidt
- Community Spirit (non-profit): Didsbury Municipal Library
- Community Spirit (for profit): Didsbury Saloon
