Danielle Smith has been voted as the new leader of Alberta's United Conservative Party.
Smith will be at the helm of the party, after winning on the sixth ballot in results announced Thursday night in Calgary.
"I'm back," she said to a roaring crowd following her win.
She will become premier following a swearing in ceremony expected in the next few weeks. Jason Kenney will remain premier until that time.
Though Smith doesn't hold a seat in the legislature, she is still able to take over the position and all its authority.
The premier-elect is expected to make a speech to the crowd at Calgary's BMO Centre shortly, as is Kenney.
More to come.
