CARSTAIRS-DIDSBURY - An applicant called Canna Corp. has applied for a permit to operate a cannabis retail store at 1115 Hammond St. in Carstairs, according to the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) website.

Carstairs CAO Carl McDonnell said that the cannabis retailer has applied for a business permit with the town.

"It gets circulated to all the neighbours to see if there are any objections," said McDonnell. "If there are any objections then we look at it. If there are no objections then it gets approved. We treat it kind of like a liquor store -- it's retail sales, as long as they adhere to all the bylaws and go through the usual process they're good to go once they get their business licence and all the provincial regulations."

Meanwhile, in Didsbury a numbered company (2103211 AB Ltd.) has applied to AGLC for a permit to operate a cannabis retail store called Bud Mart at 1908 20th St. in Didsbury and another one called Didsbury Cannabis Mart at 1602 20th St.
