DIDSBURY – To commemorate International Women's Day on March 6, a local group held a networking dinner at 582 Patio and Grill in Didsbury.
Organizer Christina Ray said the dinner was a great chance for local women to get together and socialize.
"We had a day of Facebook draws on our page (Local Women, Unite) and we had some draws that night," said Ray. "The networking dinner was a great way for women in the area to get to know each other and celebrate and support each other."
Close to 50 women from all over Mountain View County came out for the chance to dine and mingle and win prizes.
"It was amazing," she said. "There were so many women that came out to come together and network and get to know each other a little better, which was awesome."
Ray said local businesses were very generous with donating items for draws.
"This is very important – for one this was International Women's Day," she said. "What better excuse to come together than that. Secondly, it's easy for us as women to judge each other and cut each other down. This was an opportunity for us to do the opposite of that: come together, support each other and raise each other up."
