The Province of Alberta has announced it will begin reopening up to 15,000 child care spaces the week of March 23 for core service workers.
The centres will be limited to 30 people, including staff, and must follow strict sanitization practices. Parents who qualify for a subsidy will receive it, and centres will charge their typical rates.

Child care centres are being picked based on their proximity to health care facilities, according to a news release Sunday. They will be reopened in phases based on areas of need.
Health care practitioners and critical infrastructure workers will have access to those spaces first, then first responders and others.
The province stated parents will be notified this week through their employer if they qualify for a child care space.
