The Central Mountainview Advisory Group (CMAG) has teamed up with Mountain View County to host a workshop on clubroot and ways producers in the district can make sure their fields are kept free of the crop disease.
The workshop is planned for Feb. 26 at the Mountain View County office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Organization spokesperson Paul Kupchak explained that CMAG regularly hosts workshops to provide information to the local farm community on various issues.
"CMAG held a session a few years back when members first heard that clubroot was nearing the county," said Kupchak. "Lately, there have been producers who are wondering the status of clubroot in the county and looking for more information. "CMAG approached Mountain View County to partner to bring a larger session to folks this winter."
Clubroot is a fungal disease that can affect cabbages, turnips and related plants.
The Feb. 26 session will include addresses by numerous speakers and experts.
"The event is geared toward producers, free of charge and includes lunch," she said.
For more information on the session, call Daniela at the county office at 403-335-3311, ext. 204.
Formed in 2005, CMAG works with energy companies, area landowners and other stakeholders to address issues through open houses, workshops and other activities.
