DIDSBURY - A 30-year-old man is dead following a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 22 near Twp. Rd. 292 south of Cremona on Friday evening.

The deceased was the driver of a pickup truck that was travelling northbound when it collided with a southbound RV and a semi-tractor, say police.

Didsbury RCMP responded at approximately 6 p.m. to calls about a truck swerving and driving erratically on the two-lane highway.

"Preliminary investigation has revealed the truck was heading northbound on Highway 22 when it attempted to pass a vehicle (a northbound RV) and struck a southbound RV and a southbound semi-tractor," said Cpl. Ronald Bumbry, RCMP media relations officer.

"Tragically the driver of the truck, a 30-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The southbound RV had one male and one female occupant who suffered minor injuries and were taken by EMS to a local hospital."

The northbound RV was also involved in the collision. The one female occupant of that vehicle was not injured, said Bumbry.

"The southbound semi-tractor with one male occupant was also not injured," he said.

Police said that speed and weather were not contributing factors and the investigation is continuing. Highway 22 traffic was rerouted for several hours.

The deceased was a Calgary resident.
