DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts' captain and leading scorer Colton Anderson has been a big part of the team's success for the last several years.

Not only is he the team's leading scorer of all time but he also recently set the all-time scoring record for the entire Heritage Junior Hockey League.

Anderson set the record on the road in Three Hills with the 245th point of his career during a 9-0 win over the Thrashers.

"A couple of my teammates brought it up a few times," said Anderson. "I got a couple of points in the game. It's pretty exciting. It wasn't something I was really aiming for. I played for a long time. A couple of the guys looked and told me. It was pretty cool."

The Olds native began his junior hockey career with the Colts back in 2012-13. He notched 24 points that first year and followed that up with 45, 38, 64 and 67 points.

Anderson said he has always been a goal-scorer. He gives a lot of credit for the record to his teammates over the years.

"I've had good linemates and teammates over the years I've been here," he said. "I've built good chemistry with them. We put the puck in the net a bunch of times."

Anderson said the team this year is improving and he's glad to take over the captaincy. He added he'd like to improve on his scoring numbers from last year and help the team go deep into the playoffs.

"I think I'm on pace to do that," he said. "We have a young group of guys so we just want to make the playoffs and see how we do from there. We've been doing pretty well lately so hopefully we'll keep that up."

Anderson said with several top players from last year graduating from the team, he and the other veterans have had to step up.

"We don't have as much scoring as we used to," he said. "A couple of the guys aged-out. We're getting better. Being the captain this year, I really have had to step up as a leader annd with scoring as well, after losing all those good scorers."
