The Mountain View County municipal planning commission has approved a development application for unserviced RV campsites at a golf course between Olds and Sundre.

The approval came during the commission's recent July 7 regularly scheduled meeting.

The proposed recreation resort for 10 unserviced sites is located within NW 1-33-3-5 adjacent to Rge. Rd. 31 and Highway 27.

The project is proposed by Trail Creek Golf Club. There is currently a nine-hole golf course at the site.

“The RV sites will be located on the southwest corner of the property within the existing treed area,” administration said in a briefing note to the commission. “The designated camping area is approximately 1.5 acres in size and accesses off of Rge. Rd. 31, which is a gravel road.

“The applicant mentions that the sites will be for transient golfers who will stay from one to four nights at a time and purchase a round of golf for each night that they are staying. The applicant mentions that the sites will be maintained by employees of the golf course and will contain a fire pit and garbage can.”

There will be no power, water or sewer hookups at the sites.

“No ATV usage has been permitted within the recommended conditions unless required for maintenance of the golf club by employees only.”

Other conditions of the permit include that no winter camping will be permitted from Oct. 1 to April 1, and that “any future development permit applications may require a detailed long term concept plan as well as an updated real property report to show the location of all the buildings and structures on the site.”

Commission members voted unanimously to approve the development permit application.
