CARSTAIRS - The Carstairs community has come together once again to help out those in need through the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child project.

More than 90 shoeboxes have been collected and will be sent to the Operation Christmas Child headquarters in Calgary to be sorted and sent off to Third World countries to help children there.

Several volunteers got together on Nov. 19 at the Church of God in Carstairs and put together the shoeboxes with items such as toiletries, clothes, school supplies and toys that have been donated. People were also able to drop off completed shoeboxes.

“Even though numbers are down from last year, I am so pleased and thankful for everyone who packed a box in this province after a tough economic year,” said Pastor Harry Hoehne.
