Mountain View County council has OK'd a number of property re-designations in three neighbourhoods. All the approvals came by way of motion at the recent regularly scheduled council meeting.

Council approved the re-designation of a property in the Westcott neighbourhood from agriculture district to agricultural district 2.

The 43.84 acre parcel involved in located within SE 23-31-3-5.

“This is a proposal to expand an existing small agricultural zoned parcel to a larger agricultural parcel,” administration said. “The existing small parcel was subdivided in 2007 when re-designation was not required for the first parcel out of a quarter section.

“The existing parcel has legal and physical year-round access and currently is used for livestock management. The proposed change would provide for pasture lands to be used with the existing parcel.”

Meanwhile, council approved a re-designation of a property in the Eagle Hill/Westward Ho neighbourhood from agricultural district to country residential.

The property involved is located within NE 28-32-4-5.

“This is a proposal for the first parcel out of a previously unsubdivided quarter section,” administration said. “The applicants would like to create a parcel for their son to construct a home within and located near the farm.

“The landowners did attend pre-application meetings to consider options within this quarter for the location of a dwelling for their son. They had indicated that they did not want to have a second dwelling within the existing yard site and would like their son to have a yard of his own.

“The applicants have located the parcel in the corner of the quarter to reduce the impact on the surrounding agricultural practices and utilize an existing oil field access.”

Meanwhile, councillors approved the re-designation of a property in the Eagle Hill-Westward Ho neighbourhood from agricultural district to agricultural district 2.

The subject lands are located southeast of the intersection of Twp. Rd. 334 and Rge. Rd. 34.

"The area is dominated by agricultural operations and according to the growth management conceptual strategy of the municipal development plan. The proposal is found within the agricultural preservation area," administration said.
