DIDSBURY - Council has denied a request from a property owner to provide interest concession on tax arrears paid on a number of industrial lots in town. The owner asked for a concession on the interest paid of $10,501.73 for the tax arrears on the lots, which are located on the north side of town.

The decision took place at the regular council meeting on Nov. 27.

As per the administrative review, the Town of Didsbury and the company entered into the agreement for deferral and payment of tax arrears on Dec. 31, 2016. The agreement was to defer the money owed to the town for the mortgage and property taxes on four lots for the period from Jan. 1, 2015 to July 4, 2016. Council agreed to defer payments of the amounts outstanding until Dec. 31, 2017.

As payment for the agreement was not paid in full until May 8, 2018, the interest calculated was $10,501.73.

In other council news, council adopted a new bylaw to allow for the addition of Sundre to the intermunicipal subdivision and appeal board. Sundre joins Didsbury, Carstairs and Cremona on the board.

Council approved making revisions to the town's strategic plan for 2017-2027. The plan was reviewed and updated following a strategic planning workshop held from Sept. 5-7.

As part of the review, council made the following changes and/or updates: the message from the mayor, including new pictures; the strategic planning process to include work accomplished by council in September; and the action plan to mark completed items, update priorities for current council and adjust timelines.
