Council gives first reading to re-designations

Mountain View County council has passed first reading and set public hearing dates for three separate re-designation bylaws. The moves came during the recent regularly scheduled council meeting.

Bylaw No. LU 05/19 re-designates lands within NW 1-30-2-5 in the Wessex rural neighbourhood.

The re-designation involves 3.01 acres from agricultural district to country residential district.

The purpose is to create a residential farmstead to allow a farmhand to build a home, council heard.

“Our application for this subdivision is requesting three acre parcel which puts the southern boundary into the existing cultivated area,” the applicant said in a letter that is part of the re-designation application.

“This is more recently broken up from pasture land after we purchased the property in 2012. Upon breaking up the area in question it was quite evident that the area in question was originally part of the farmstead and corral area as we are continually bringing up rocks, chunks of concrete and iron.

“We are therefore asking that our proposed boundary and acreage size be approved rather than the reduced acreage that would put into the R-CR1 classification from the R-CR.”

Council set the public hearing date for the proposal to March 27 in council chambers.

Bylaw No. LU 08-19 re-designates lands within the NW 25-30-2-5 in the Wessex rural neighbourhood.

The re-designation involves 71.01 acres from agricultural district to agricultural district A2.

The purpose of the re-designation is to create a new agricultural parcel that contains two existing dwellings.

Council set the public hearing date for March 27.

Bylaw No. LU 10/19 re-designates lands within NE 2-30-4-5 in Division 2 in the Dogpound rural neighbourhood.

The purpose of the re-designation is for subdivision of the first parcel out from a previously unsubdivided quarter section.

Council set the public hearing date for March 27.

All councillors were in attendance at the Feb. 27 council meeting.
