The three Mountain View County councillors who chose not to seek re-election in 2013 have made some final official comments on the municipality and its future.

Division 1 councillor Kevin Good, Division 5 councillor Bob Orr and Division 6 councillor Paddy Munro all spoke during the Oct. 9 council meeting about their time on council and their hopes for the county's future.

“I think our county is in good hands,” said Munro. “I think we are moving forward in a good direction.”

Good cited the adoption of the county's new municipal development plan (MDP) as a highlight of the last term.

“We have got a lot accomplished,” said Good. “I believe we are in a sustainable direction, a direction that will not be regretted by our children and their children.

“The value of agriculture will do nothing but increase. We were ahead of the curve in realizing that we need to preserve food production acres. So I am very pleased with our MDP and the input from the public in that.”

Orr added, “I'm quite happy with the progress and the direction the county is now taking.”

Reeve Bruce Beattie said all three men made valuable contributions over the past term. “On behalf of ratepayers I want to thank Kevin, Paddy and Bob for your contributions over the last three years, working hard on behalf of the county,” said Beattie. “I want to thank you for the work you've done. I think we've done a lot of good things over the last three years.”

CAO Tony Martens also commended the outgoing councillors.

“We've been privileged to work with these councillors and thank you for your efforts,” said Martens.
