The rate of COVID-19 hospitalizations and intensive care unit admissions continue to remain relatively low in the province.
On Sunday (May 10) a press release from the province reported 96 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta. The total number of active cases in the provinces is 1,747.
Hospitalization rates in the province remain low with a total of 71 people hospitalized due to the virus, 13 of whom have been admitted to an intensive care unit.
A total of 4,389 Albertans have recovered from the virus to date.
An additional Albertan has died from COVID-19 bringing the provincial total to 117 deaths.
In the last 24-hours, 4,186 COVID-19 tests have been completed in Alberta. There have been 173,023 people tested for the virus to date in the province.
To date, 687 cases of the virus in the province have an unknown exposure.
Albertans can aid in the process of contact tracing by downloading the app ABTraceTogether. The application will aid Public Health in contact tracing and help facilitate early detection of the virus to limit the spread.
The app is voluntary to download and does not track the user’s physical location or use GPS.
Albertans can help limit the spread of the virus by practising good hygiene that includes washing hands regularly, avoiding touching the face, sneezing or coughing in elbows and disposing of tissues safely.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat and shortness of breath. Anyone displaying these symptoms is eligible for testing.
