About 150 people of all ages attended the first-ever Mountain View Tractor Rodeo and Show & Shine at the Heritage Centre east of Cremona on Saturday.

Organizer Debora Rice-Salomons said the daylong event was a hit with families and participants alike.

“It was really fun,” she said. “The crowd was cheering and it was really something. There were a lot of seniors and young people too. It was a really fun day.”

The tractor rodeo featured 25 entries taking part in a variety of events, with participants operating tractors of various vintages.

Events included a fun run obstacle course, a chain challenge, a manure mayhem obstacle course, and a dunk the chicken team challenge.

The chute boss was Wayne Leask, with Brian Bellamy and Darryl Whitlow helping to keep things moving along. Dave Reinhardt was the rodeo announcer. The arena boss was Lynn Reid.

The rodeo judges were Greg Harris, Sandy Reid, Rayna Gunvaldersen and Brent Tanas.

The tractor hayrides were very popular with kids and adults alike, she noted.

Cremona high school students ran the concession as a grad fundraiser.

Plans are already in the works to hold a second-annual event in 2019, she said.
