About 1,500 spectators enjoyed excellent weather to take in the 109th annual Dogpound Stampede rodeo July 16.

In all, about 180 competitors, including many from West Central Alberta, took part in events over the two days, with a dry infield making for outstanding rodeo action.

The results of the various competitions at the Foothills Cowboys Association rodeo are as follows:

• Steer wrestling was won by Jordan Ness with a 4.2 second time. Jordy Guze and Rudy Nieborg tied for second with 4.3 second times.

• Wacey Anderson won the bull riding event with an 80 score. Armando Davila finished second with a 72 score and Cremona's Kyle Brown finished third with a 70 score.

• Keenan Reinhardt won the saddle bronc event with a 74 score. Dustin Sippola finished second with a 66 score and Laurie Hawea finished third with a 63 score.

• Tate Hartell won the bareback event with a 77 score. Branden Dillman finished second with a 67 score and Red Deer County's Brandon Stuart finished third with a 62 score.

• Denver Johnson and Cole Robertson won the team roping event with a 4.9 time. Cody LaPoint and Brian Willoughby finished second with a 6.8 time.

• Calf roping was won by J.B. Davidson with an 8.8 second times. Dawson Johnson and Curtis Lausen tied for second with 9.5 second times.

• Jake Tebb won the boys steer riding event with a 75 score. Matthew Howard finished second with a 74 score, and Carter Sahli finished third with a 72 score.

Mountain View and Red Deer county competitors in this year's rodeo included Nolan Ziebarth, Vance Tetz, Jody Laye, Dean Erickson, Terry Cummings, Lance Engel, Tyler Frank, Dayne Hart, Jake Krol, Jason Coleman, Graham Campbell, Trevor Van Maarion, Scott Harvie, Greg Tebb, Gordon Sandercock, Lachlan and Jordan O'Neill, Blake Gagnon, Garrett Dunn, Brandon Stuart, Tyler Leischer, Eastin Thorburn, Riley Gagnon, Kyle Brown, Aaron Miller, Josh Hillock, Garth Dorin, Dallas and Roger McAllister, Steed Cline, Matthew Richardson, and Julien Ducharme.
