DIDSBURY - A Didsbury resident has returned from El Salvador where she taught English to kids.

Sara Fast was very thankful for all the donations she received to help fund Launch Pad, a new English teaching initiative in El Salvador.

"I went down with the expectation of teaching 60 kids; however, once the word spread through the communities the numbers quickly grew to just under 150. The average household in these communities earns around $5 per week, so opportunities for children to participate in extracurricular activities can be very limited; however, because of the generous donations we were able to offer this course without cost, making it available to everyone."

Fast said the two-month basic course had a real impact on all the kids and families involved.

"The beginning of Launch Pad is full of promise and I am excited to see where this project can go in the future," she said.
