Several local equine enthusiasts did well at the 2013 Calgary Stampede.
The Eaglesfield Percherons of Didsbury took Best of Show ribbon at the 127th annual Heavy Horse Show, which featured some of the world's finest heavy haulers. In the team penning competition, held in Okotoks because of flooding in Calgary, Innisfail's Vern Hamilton and his teammate captured the Open title ribbon. Tom Thorlakson of Carstairs and his teammates won the 10 Class.
