DIDSBURY - For its first-ever community charity run, Essentials for our Community Didsbury did very well, said president Sheree Andrews.

The run saw 15 entrants and raised $7,000 for the program, which helps provide local families in need with food vouchers and other services.

"It went great," said Andrews. "We raised enough for seven months of food for local families. We were very pleased. Even in the cold and the snow we had runners turn out and brave it."

The fastest time for the run was set by Kaleb Furst with a time of 36 minutes, she said.

"We had great community support," she said. "We had seven businesses come out and do water stations for us. That was lovely to have them cheering us on. The support was fantastic."
