Alberta is now offering extra COVID-19 testing to Calgary residents who are asymptomatic and who work outside the home.
This extra testing is due to high infection rates in Calgary and to get broader snapshot of transmission. People who are interested are encouraged to go to the AHS website to register. The expanded testing will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum of up to a thousand people per day. These people must live in Calgary and must work outside the home.
There are 47 new cases of people infected with COVID-19 in Alberta.
On Monday, the province said two more people have died in continuing care facilities in North and Calgary zones. Two previous deaths have been ruled unrelated to COVID-19, which means the death toll has remained at 117.
In total, there are 1,524 active cases of the virus in the province, while 4,659 people have recovered.
Currently, 73 people are hospitalized, and 12 people are in ICU.
Three people who have been confirmed to have COVID-19 have connections to two different Calgary day cares. These day cares are currently closed and there is no evidence the transmission happened within the day cares.
