Some Chinook’s Edge School Division buses were cancelled Monday due to the cold weather but all schools are open.
The division initiated a yellow inclement weather day Feb. 3.
Yellow days are when schools are open, but buses might not run in some or all areas of the division. Reasons include extreme cold, heavy snowfall, fog or freezing rain.
An extreme cold warning issued Sunday by Environment and Climate Change Canada for Red Deer County and nearby urban centres Sunday continued into Monday. The warning was extended Sunday night to include Mountain View County and nearby urban centres which also continued Monday.
Buses are not running in the community of Sylvan Lake and Poplar Ridge but schools are open.
Parents were to receive notification of bus cancellations through the Bus Status App, along with an automated call from their bus driver and / or notification through School Messenger.
Learning will take place at school on yellow days for those who are able to arrive safely.
