Effective Thursday morning, Red Deer County is no longer under fire restrictions enacted earlier this summer.
Red Deer Fire Chief Drayton Bussiere lifted restrictions at 10 a.m. on Aug. 29.
Fire permits are now once again available for county residents and businesses and can be obtained online at rdc.burnpermits.com.
A fire permit is required for all open fires year-round, except for safe acceptable residential fire pits within Red Deer County.
No new permits were allowed under restrictions enacted July 11.
“While conditions for burning have improved, permit holders are advised to closely monitor conditions, Red Deer County’s website and the Albertafirebans.ca website for any changes and additional information,” Bussiere advised when announcing restrictions were lifted.
