CARSTAIRS - Carstairs Minor Hockey Association wrapped up another season recently and overall things went very well, say officials.

In all 100 players played this year on five teams with two tyke teams, two novice teams and two atom teams.

"It was our first year with all of our novice and atom teams playing in the Central Alberta Hockey League (CAHL) so that was a big change," said Cole Dingman, president.

"Also, our registration numbers were the highest they've been in at least five years."

Dingman said one of the highlights of the season included having a team (novice A) play at the tier 1 level.

"It's a big accomplishment considering that the next closest community in tier 1 has double the population of Carstairs," he said.

Three of the teams qualified for the playoffs, unfortunately, all were knocked out in the first round, said Dingman.
