Thursday's fog is expected to lift by noon, according to Environment Canada, but it could redevelop again tonight.

The federal agency issued at fog advisory for the Airdrie - Cochrane - Olds - Sundre area as well as the Red Deer - Ponoka - Innisfail - Stettler area at 7:46 a.m. Feb. 8.

"Patches of dense fog causing near zero visibility continue this morning," the advisory stated. "The fog is expected to lift near noon. Some areas may see fog patches redevelop again tonight."

The advisory said in some locations travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. If visibility is reduced while driving, the federal agency advises slowing down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.

Earlier Thursday morning, Environment Canada issued a freezing drizzle advisory for both areas as well.

Freezing drizzle advisories are issued when drizzle falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to freeze on contact, and over time create icy surfaces.
