Fish and Wildlife officers have set up three culvert traps in an effort to capture a grizzly bear that was causing trouble northwest of Sundre last week.Sundre-Olds based officer Adam Mirus said the bruin has killed a calf and broken into several grain bins in the rural area just north of Burnstick Lake.In other bear news, Mountain View BearSmart Society (MVBS) reported on its website last week that a grizzly bear was sighted in the Elkton area on the morning of April 11.Anyone spotting a bear in the area is being asked to call the Sundre Fish and Wildlife office at 403-638-3805 or 911 if the bear is posing an immediate public safety hazard.Meanwhile, MVBS officials will be busy this week with the 4th annual Bear Awareness Week. Running from April 23 to April 28, the week includes bear safety lectures and presentations in area schools as well as a Family Day at the Elkton Campground, where information on bear safety will be shared with guests.
