RED DEER COUNTY – A special weather statement warning of fog was issued Sunday morning for Red Deer County and the urban centres near it.

“Dense fog with near zero visibility will lift later this morning. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations,” Environment Canada said in its 8:13 a.m. Aug. 18 alert update.

Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.

The advisory is in effect for Red Deer County near Elnora, Lousana, Delburne, Penhold, Innisfail, Bowden, Pine Lake, Spruce View, Red Lodge Provincial Park and Sylvan Lake.

Meanwhile to the east, a heat warning is in place in Kneehill County Sunday including for Torrington, Wimborne and Trochu.

"Daytime high temperatures near 30 degrees Celsius are expected for the next 3 days. Overnight lows near 14 degrees Celsius will not provide much relief from the heat. Temperatures will be cooler on Wednesday," Environment Canada's Aug. 18 heat warning said.
