Hazardous travel in Mountain View County, area Friday due to fog

Low visibility in fog will continue through the morning of Jan. 31 with conditions expected to improve later in the afternoon

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a fog advisory for Mountain View County and nearby urban centres Friday morning.

"Areas of dense fog have developed in the Calgary area," the federal agency's 9:11 a.m. Jan. 31 weather alert said for the area.

Locations included in the advisory are Mountain View County near Carstairs, Cremona, Water Valley, Olds, Didsbury and Sundre.

"Low visibility in fog will continue through the morning. Conditions are expected to improve later this afternoon," the advisory for the area said.

"Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility," the federal agency said.

The monring fog advisory stretched from Mountain View County in the north to Foothills County in the south, including Calgary.
