OLDS - RCMP warned travellers of icy roads from Airdrie to Calgary Thursday evening, with some being impacted more than others.

Road conditions "are extremely bad, specifically in and around Olds, Bowden and travel from Airdrie to Red Deer,” police said in a 5:46 p.m. Jan. 23 press release.

RCMP reported black ice conditions along the highways with severe wind.

“These road conditions will impact the ability to stop in short distances. Drivers are asked to be cautious and slow to appropriate speeds on the highway,” police said.

“Please avoid travel if possible."
