DIDSBURY -- Once again Didsbury will be the site of a big Hollywood production. Following on the footsteps of Wynonna Earp and Fargo comes a movie starring Academy Award winner Kevin Costner.

Although the production company, Getting Away Productions, would not give any details to the Gazette regarding the movie, the production is believed to be taking place inside of JD's Restaurant as well as Unit #3 at the Didsbury Health Centre.

It is believed that the film shooting here will be titled Let Him Go, which co-stars Diane Lane. Shooting is expected to be on April 17.

Jae Teskey, owner of JD's Restaurant, said that she was approached by the crew requesting the use of the restaurant.

"It's set in the 1960s, 1963 to be exact," said Teskey. "It's about a retired sheriff, I think who is Kevin Coster. They're looking for their grandchild. That's what I know."

Teskey said she was told the producers would be changing up the interior of the restaurant for the movie.

"It is nice to have them come," she said. "It's not often you get these big stars making movies in a place like this."

JD's Restaurant will be closed from April 15 - 22, reopening on April 23.

Teskey said she heard they'll be filming in the restaurant as well as outside.

"There were a lot of people here," she said. "They had about 20 people here last week scouting and checking it out. That's just part of the crew, they said. There'll be many more people here  when they're filming."

A representative from the Town of Didsbury said council will be reviewing requests for road closures at the April 9 regular council meeting.

According to media reports, the plot for Let Him Go is described as involving a retired Montana sherriff, played by Costner, and his wife, played by Lane, attempting to rescue their grandson from "the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas."

Costner previously shot the western Open Range in Alberta 16 years ago. Costner has starred in such blockbusters as The Untouchables, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams and Dances with Wolves, which he also directed. Costner was awarded best director and nominated for best actor for Dances with Wolves in 1991.
