DIDSBURY - Didsbury's Kasandra Miller is very proud of her Welsh Section A pony named Sunburst Heart of Jubilee that took Grand Champion young stock ribbon at the recent 95th Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.

"It was very exciting," said Miller. "It was a big honour to represent Didsbury and Alberta at this prestigious event."

The pony qualified with three other ponies from Alberta for the Toronto show.

The qualifying judge, Hilary Tolhurt, said, "My choice for Supreme Champion was a very nicely put together pony with a good topline, movement and with the presence of a true Welsh Mountain Pony.

"He was also my choice for sport pony - with a pony like this you have the basis of your sport pony breeding and competition, having bone, movement and quality to either produce quality or to compete himself."

Although this is one of the first foals the 17-year-old Miller has bred, she has been around Welsh ponies her whole life, being the daughter of Shelley Snyder.

Snyder has been with Welsh ponies since she was Miller's age, working with Stan Young's breeding program until she began her own - based on his bloodlines.
