Locals do well at 55 plus games

DIDSBURY - Didsbury and area was well represented at the recent Alberta 55 plus games held in Camrose. In total, 11 individuals from the region participated with many taking home medals.

DIDSBURY - Didsbury and area was well represented at the recent Alberta 55 plus games held in  Camrose. In total, 11 individuals from the region participated with many taking home medals.

Cliff Thompson from Didsbury won silver in woodworking and silver in decorative or native arts. Earl Markham, also of Didsbury, won bronze in woodworking and gold in photography.

Treasurer Nettie Neustaeter said all the participants competed well.

"The weekend started with an opening banquet at the Camrose Best Western on Friday night followed by two days of competition including cribbage, military whist, bridge, snooker, 8-ball and floor curling," said Neustaeter. "The culture competition included quilting, woodwork, mixed media and photography.

"Congratulations to all participants. And time to prepare for the Edmonton Fall games, to be held September 7 -9. Activities will include bridge, pickleball, slo-pitch, floor shuffleboard and bocce. Qualifiers in each event will be held in June and July."
