Macintyre back in court in January

Former United Conservative Party (UCP) MLA Donald Macintyre is scheduled to be back in court in January on charges of sexual assault and sexual interference with a minor. MacIntyre was charged in February following a police investigation.

MacIntyre was charged in February following a police investigation. He resigned his Innisfail-Sylvan Lake seat soon after the charges were laid.

A publication ban prohibits identifying the complainant in the case.

On May 11, MacIntyre waived his preliminary hearing.

On June 4, MacIntyre’s legal counsel appeared for arraignment, when a Jan. 11, 2019 court date was set for continuation of proceedings.

Negotiations between the Crown and MacIntyre’s legal counsel are reportedly underway aimed at a resolution.

A call to his lawyer was not immediately returned at press time Monday.

MacIntyre has been released on bail with conditions, including that he not have contact with anyone under 16 without the presence of the person’s guardian.
