The trial of a 37-year-old man accused of threatening a four-year-old girl in Olds in July 2011 is expected to wrap up this week with a verdict from Judge George Gaschner.The accused faces a charge of uttering a threat to cause bodily harm. His trial got underway on Wednesday.Testifying for the Crown, the girl's mother said she was having an argument with the accused in an Olds residence on July 17, 2011 when he threatened to harm the girl, who was standing nearby.She said the accused used a loud voice to tell the girl: ìGet the (expletive deleted) away from me or I'll break your (expletive deleted) arm.îThe girl's mother said she was alarmed by the remark and immediately left the residence with the girl. She then went to the Olds RCMP detachment and reported the incident.ìI didn't want him threatening my daughter,î she testified.Testifying in his own defence, the accused denied making any threat to the girl.ìHave you ever threatened (the girl)?î defence lawyer Brian Forestell asked the accused.ìNo,î he replied. ìI would never threaten (the girl).îìYou never told her you'd break her (expletive deleted) arm?î asked Forestell.ìNo,î he replied.Judge Gaschner is scheduled to render his verdict in the case Feb. 1.
