Alberta reported another 59 new cases of people contracting COVID-19 on Saturday and one more death.
In total, 116 people have died in the province from the virus. There are 74 people in hospital, 15 of whom are in intensive care.
The province has seen 6,157 confirmed infections so far and 4,204 Albertans have recovered - approximately 68 per cent. There are still 1,837 people who are considered active cases in the province, with 69 of them in the Edmonton zone. In the Calgary zone, there are 1,202 active cases; in the South zone, there are 514; in the North zone, there are 31; in the Central zone, there are 15; and five cases are in zones yet to be confirmed.

Most people who were infected due to outbreaks at meat packing plants have recovered. At the Cargill plant in High River, 73 people still have the virus while 879 have recovered. At the JBS facility in Brooks, 89 people still have the virus while 510 have recovered. At Harmony Beef, 20 people still have the virus and 18 have recovered.
The province is now permitting travel to summer homes, cabins and cottages within Alberta, although local community guidelines should still be followed. Alberta is still advising residents not to travel to summer homes outside the province, and to prepare for minimal stops by packing food and stopping only if necessary.
The province will be delaying its water testing at Alberta beaches this summer so staff and labs can focus on COVID-19. Albertans using lakes and beaches do so at their own risk and should take precautions, such as checking for signs of blue-green algae.
