CARSTAIRS - The RCMP Musical Ride is coming to town on July 25. Featuring RCMP officers in red serge performing figures and drills on horseback, the renowned ride will take place at Carstairs Memorial Park.
Didsbury RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier said people can expect a good time for the whole family.
"The musical ride is a world class event," said Fournier. "It's one of a kind performed by the RCMP. There is a full-time musical ride unit based out of Ottawa. They travel the world putting on different shows for people."
Carstairs is the only stop in Mountain View County on the musical ride's tour.
The show, which goes on rain or shine, begins at 6 p.m with a performance by the Millennium Equestrian Group.
"They'll put on a display of horse jumping," he said. "They're from east of Carstairs. They do training with kids to do horse jumping."
The musical ride itself starts at 7 p.m.
"The entire event is free," he said. "The costs have been covered by the towns of Carstairs and Didsbury and Mountain View County. No tickets are required for this event. There will be assigned parking for handicapped. The boy scouts will be there as well to help with anyone who needs assistance getting to their seats."
Fournier said there will be bleachers at the event for people to sit in.
