Land-use applications in Mountain View County were down by almost two per cent in 2010 ñ and that decrease was due solely to a drop in activity during the month of December.Year-end planning and development stats show the county received a total of 519 general land-use applications last year, compared to 529 in 2009.Last year's total included 129 applications for subdivision, 120 for redesignation, 119 for permitted-use development permits, 95 for discretionary-use development permits and 56 for compliance certificates.By comparison, 2009 saw only 92 applications for subdivision and 72 for redesignation, but a higher number of applications for permitted-use development permits (130), discretionary-use development permits (158) and compliance certificates (77).The county had been tracking ahead of last year until December, when the total number of applications dropped by more than half to 15, compared to 32 in 2009.Those numbers do not include building permit applications, which at 216 were down less than one per cent from 2009's total of 233, or electrical, gas, plumbing and sewage applications, implemented with full permitting in October 2009. Total applications in those categories in 2010 were 233 for electrical, 216 for gas, 92 for plumbing and 93 for sewage.The last two years saw about a 20-per-cent decrease in general land-use applications compared to 2008 (647), 2007 (648) and 2006 (624).
